U.S. joins Minamata Convention on Mercury

On November 6, The United States signed the Minamata Convention on Mercury. According to a press release from the State Department, the Minamata Convention aims “to reduce exposure to mercury, a toxic chemical with significant health effects on the brain and nervous system . . . [and] . . . complements domestic measures by addressing the transnational nature of the problem.”
