OPINION: Recognizing The Success Of Foreign Aid

In the Wall Street Journal, Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, applauds economist Charles Kenny’s book, “Getting Better: Why Global Development Is Succeeding – and How We Can Improve the World Even More.” He says Kenny “shines a light on the real successes of aid, and he shows us the benefits that additional smart investment can bring.” Gates writes that “aid money can and does work. It improves people’s lives and makes the world a better and safer place,” citing recent improvements in child mortality and life expectancy rates (5/21).
