Webinar for Journalists: Women’s Health Under the Affordable Care Act

The Kaiser Family Foundation hosted an interactive webinar for journalists through its Media Fellowships Program: “Women’s Health Under the Affordable Care Act,” which took place on Thursday, February 6 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. ET.

Now that the ACA’s coverage expansions are in effect, the Foundation’s latest webinar looked at how the law affects women’s access to health coverage and care. The Kaiser Family Foundation’s Alina Salganicoff, Vice President and Director of Women’s Health Policy, and Laurie Sobel, Senior Policy Analyst, gave a brief presentation on how the ACA expanded access to coverage and preventive care for women, and how these elements of the law are being implemented. The webinar also reviewed current legal issues related to the contraceptive coverage requirement, as well as state and federal policies affecting insurance coverage of abortion.

Resources for the webinar include Foundation briefs, “Health Reform: Implications for Women’s Access to Coverage and Care,” “Coverage for Abortion Services and the ACA” and “A Guide to the Supreme Court’s Review of the Contraceptive Coverage Requirement.”

If you are a journalist who was unable to attend the webinar, but would like to receive future updates on the series, please email your name and media affiliation to acawebinars@kff.org. You can also use this email address to provide feedback and ideas for the series.

The webinar is the seventh in a series for journalists addressing key aspects of the Affordable Care Act, its implications for consumers, and strategies for connecting the dots for different audiences. Video and transcripts are available for the first six webinars.
