Senate Appropriations Subcommittee Approves FY 2016 State and Foreign Operations Appropriations Bill
The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs approved the FY 2016 State and Foreign Operations Appropriations bill, which includes funding for U.S. global health programs at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the State Department comprising a significant portion of U.S. funding for global health (total funding for global health is not yet known as some funding provided through USAID, HHS, and DoD is not yet available). Committee Majority and Minority statements indicate that funding in the bill for global health would total $8.47 billion, $287 million above both the President’s request and $14 million above the FY 2015 enacted level.
