This session will explore the accomplishments and challenges of the creation and the implementation of national strategies in four countries with varying HIV epidemic profiles: South Africa, Swaziland, Brazil and the USA.
This session will focus on the ongoing HIV epidemic of the USA and Canada. It will describe the epidemiology of HIV in the region, and explore the health disparities, which continue to undermine HIV prevention and care efforts.
This session will explore ways of quickening the pulse of the AIDS movement at this critical time when the AIDS response is under threat and activism is being marginalized.
AIDS 2012: Press Conference: Labs for Life: PEPFAR, CDC and BD Announce New Labs Strengthening Initiative
BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) and the U.S. Presidentâ€™s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Servicesâ€™ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will unveil the results of a five-year collaboration that improved overall laboratory systems and services in African countries severely affected by HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis (TB).
Taking into account the recent organizational reforms, this session will discuss the strategic direction and future hopes of the Global Fund from the perspective of the recently appointed General Manager, implementing countries, members of civil society, and the donor community.
