Official Press Conference
This session is designed to review the state-of-the-art of two of the major questions in antiretroviral therapy (ART): when to start therapy and what regimen(s) to start? The speakers will provide a global view, and respond to questions from both resource-rich setting (RRS) and resource-limited setting (RLS) perspectives.
AIDS 2012: China, India, South Africa, Brazil: How Will They Use Their Leadership to Advance the AIDS Response?
This session uses a panel discussion format to have an interactive, roundtable exchange which will examine retrospectively these four countries’ major accomplishments in HIV and AIDS over the past decade and looks prospectively at their future leadership paths in their respective regions and globally.
The panel will present the investment framework model and discuss its applicability at country level. Panelists from north and south will also share their experiences in using new, innovative financing tools for raising large scale funding from non-government sources such as the introduction of an AIDS levy and lotteries.
This session will highlight the research and policy dialogue undertaken by the Global Commission on HIV and the Law on issues of criminalization, discrimination and violence as experienced by women and HIV-related treatment access.
