Trends in Non-Elderly Who Report Being Tested for HIV

The share of non-elderly adults who say they’ve ever been tested for HIV increased slowly but steadily from 43% in 1997 to 55% in 2004, but has since leveled off. The share saying they’ve been tested in the past year has remained fairly steady at about one in five since 1997.
