USAID Administrator Shah testifies before House and Senate Committees on FY15 budget request

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Dr. Rajiv Shah testified before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs (April 8), Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs (April 8), House Committee on Foreign Affairs (April 9), and Senate Committee on Foreign Relations (April 10). During testimony before each Committee, Administrator Shah summarized the FY2015 budget request, including funding for global health programs noting that USAID “will work towards ending the tragedy of preventable child and maternal death, creating an AIDS-free generation, and protecting communities from infectious diseases.” Administrator Shah also discussed funding for the Feed the Future Initiative (FtF), Power Africa initiative, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programs, and USAID’s efforts to reform it’s model for development.
