“PEPFAR Stewardship and Oversight Act” passed by Senate Committee on Foreign Relations

The Senate Committee on Foreign Relations approved, with amendments, the “PEPFAR Stewardship and Oversight Act” (S.1545). Originally introduced by Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Bob Corker (R-TN), the proposed legislation extends existing authorities and strengthens oversight of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). The amended version includes, among other things, additional reporting requirements on HIV/TB co-infection and healthcare workers.
