Administrator Shah discusses food security at announcement of World Food Prize

During remarks at the announcement of the World Food Prize, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Dr. Rajiv Shah discussed U.S. efforts to improve food security through the Feed the Future Initiative (FtF) and the $3.5 billion commitment made by President Obama at the 2009 G8 Summit in L’Aquila, Italy.  Administrator Shah also announced FtF’s new “Borlaug 21st Century Leadership” program, a $32.5 million investment to “provide mentoring and training opportunities for agriculture professionals across the globe” aimed at strengthening agriculture systems and best practices.
