GlobalPost Reports On IOM Evaluation Of PEPFAR

GlobalPost reports on “[a]n independent evaluation of the President’s Emergency Program for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), released [February 20] by the Institute of Medicine (IOM),” writing that the report “lauded the program’s achievements as proof that HIV services can be delivered successfully on a large scale” and “also recommended several changes to the program, to ensure that the HIV/AIDS response is sustainable.” The article includes quotes from David Haroz, special assistant to the principal deputy U.S. global AIDS coordinator at the State Department, and Omonigho Ufomata, AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s director of global policy and advocacy. In addition, GlobalPost provides a link to a webcast featuring a presentation by Patrick Kelley, director of the boards on global health and African science academy development at the Institute of Medicine, made at the panel launch of the evaluation (Judem, 3/1).
