ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Eligible candidates must be U.S. citizens who will be seniors or recent graduates (less than 2 years) of an accredited U.S. college or university in the fall of 2008. Graduate students and individuals with an advanced degree are not eligible to apply. Successful applicants will show evidence of academic achievement and will demonstrate the following:
- Be a member of a population that is adversely affected by racial or ethnic disparities in health; and/or
- Have experience working in or with programs that address health issues disproportionately affecting racial and ethnic minorities or underserved communities (e.g. local health departments, community health centers, inner city/rural hospitals or organizations that conduct research on or develop policy related to health or healthcare disparities) or have done previous academic work (e.g. taken courses, written papers or participate in research projects) related to health disparities.

As the application form details, we must receive the following materials by 5pm ET on December 14, 2007 to be considered for our program. Please type all materials:
- Application form
- Essays (1. Your personal background and how it led you to be interested in health policy, and specifically, racial or ethnic health disparities AND, 2. Your views on the challenges facing the United States in addressing health disparities in one of the following areas: a) Health Coverage; b) HIV/AIDS; or, c) An area of your choosing)
- Official college transcript
- Two (2) letters of recommendation (at least 1 must be from a faculty member)
- Resume
- A list of any academic honors, scholarships, special awards, or certificates
- A list of your major extracurricular activities: civic/social, length of involvement, level of participation, etc.

SELECTION PROCESS
Candidates are selected based on academic performance, interest in health policy, demonstrated leadership potential and community involvement. A distinguished National Advisory Committee guides the program's highly competitive selection process and strives to select a class of scholars who are academically, geographically and culturally diverse based upon the applicant pool.
Selected candidates will be notified mid-February.
