Supplemental Coverage Among Low-Income Medicare Beneficiaries, by Race/Ethnicity, 2003
Medicaid - rather than Medicare Advantage - is the primary source of supplemental coverage for African-American and Hispanic beneficiaries below 150% FPL, while private employer or Medigap coverage is the primary source for low-income white beneficiaries.



Note: Coverage was assigned based on the following hierarchy: Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, Private (employer-sponsored, Medigap), other public and unknown source, and no coverage.
